NC Historical Records Online is pleased to announce that another 150,000 images of land grants records representing 43 counties have been added to our free website http://nclandgrants.com . This last set included a number of smaller counties as well as most of the counties now in Tennessee. This brings the total number of images on the website up to 674,000, taking up over 2 TB of online storage.
Images were added for the following 26 North Carolina counties: Alamance, Alexander, Alleghany, Chatham, Forsyth, Franklin, Halifax, Harnett, Hertford, Iredell, Jackson, Jones, Lee, Lenoir, Madison, Northampton, Pender, Perquimans, Rockingham, Rutherford, Stokes, Union, Warren, Watauga, Yadkin, and Yancey.
Images were added for the following 17 Tennessee counties/districts: Davidson, Giles, Grainger, Greene, Hawkins, Jefferson, Knox, Maury, Montgomery, Robertson, Sevier, Smith, Sullivan, Sumner, Eastern District, Middle District, and Western District.
In addition, the following 16 counties have just been digitized and are awaiting final processing. They should be online this month: Ashe, Bath, Bute, Camden, Chowan, Currituck, Dare, Davie, Durham, Henderson, Hoke, Pamlico, Pasquotank, Scotland, Transylvania, and Wilson.
The order sent to the archives last week is for Carteret, Craven, Duplin, and Randolph. If all goes well they should be online sometime in March.
As always, we thank the State Archives of North Carolina for providing the services to get these images digitized from their microfilm collection. Click here to read about their involvement with this project.
We still need funding for 18 counties, shown here in red (not funded) and orange (partially funded). Please visit Get the Shucks Online! for more information.
