NCHRO President Speaking at NGS 2024

NC Historical Records Online one again continues its streak of having at least 1 board member selected to speak at the National Genealogical Society Annual Conference. This year’s conference will be online only May 16-19, 2024.  Presentations will be recorded so if you can’t see them when presented you can watch them for a set period afterwards.

NCHRO President David M. McCorkle will be presenting “Using Artificial Intelligence (AI) Tools for Land Records Analysis” May 17 at 2:30pm. This lecture is intended for everyone, so no background is needed. It will cover using AI tools to quickly extract and organize information from land records such as deeds, land grants, and even old maps. Records can be processed individually or as a group. Extracted information includes metes and bounds, public land descriptions, geographic features, and neighbors. He will also cover using AI to read original handwriting, and will show an example of going from a handwritten survey to an actual outline of the property.

We hope to “see” you there!
